At the end of the first week of this fast God spoke to my heart and told me I had sins I needed to confess. (I figured that was coming. 😉 ) His timing was perfect as that same evening at church we had praise and worship, Adoration, and Confession. I wasn’t sure what sins I… Continue reading Fasting Update
Hello everyone! So, today is day 5 of the Daniel fast. Here is my experience with it so far. DAY 1 Today went smoothly. I was a little hungry, but determined. DAY 2 I was a bit tired today and thoughts of meats, cheeses, eggs, and breads filtered through my mind all day. My amazing… Continue reading The First Few Days of My Fast
Happy New Year! I have decided to start 2017 with the Daniel Fast. (See Daniel chapters 1 and 10 .) Like Daniel, I am saying good-bye to meat, dairy, eggs, sweeteners, bread, processed food, deep-fried food, and solid fats for 21 days. But I can still have fruits, veggies, whole grains (including whole-grain unleavened bread), nuts, and… Continue reading Starting 2017 with the Daniel Fast
What does a life lived in the Spirit look like in the marketplace? Is this even practical? The answer is a profound YES! One day when out shopping, I met love. And I was drawn to her. You see Love always captivates me. That day Love was a radiant, dark-skinned, white-haired woman riding an electric shopping cart. How did I know Love was riding that cart? Even in an area where the economy has been depressed for a long time… Continue reading Love’s Legacy
I’ve been away from my blog for quite a while. So, I thought I would come back with something I haven’t talked about before and share something very close to my heart. That would be families with autism. Every family has challenges. Ours just happens to be having three children on the autism spectrum, ranging from very high functioning to severe. Like parents everywhere we cherish each of our children and have had to grow in so many ways to become the parents our children need us to be. (Even our non-autistic daughter stretched us, imagine that.) 😉 I will share a bit more about life on the spectrum in later posts.
This post, however, is to share a documentary that our oldest daughter, Steffanie, made with Dylan Sewell on some of the unique educational challenges for students with Aspergers.
May this video bless you.
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophecy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams” Acts 2: 17-18 We’ve all had dreams that have stuck with us long after waking begging us to ponder their significance. We… Continue reading Dream Interpretation 101
Love doesn’t choose who is worthy to love and who is not. Love loves simply because it can. It delights in loving and does so extravagantly. Jesus said that people would know we are His disciples by our love for one another. (see John 13:35) What does this life look like?… Continue reading Love: The Hallmark of a Spirit – Centered Life
Our journey into God’s view of finances began when our family was very young. Steve and I had been blessed with three children in our first three years of marriage. Steve was working two jobs to provide for us, but we still felt the pressure of being a family with a single wage earner. We… Continue reading Legacy and Stewardship
In the newly quiet stillness that comes only after an evening of engaging outdoor activity, I enjoyed the last moments of daylight in the glow of a waning campfire. The nearness of God’s Presence touched me and I embraced its silent invitation. I welcomed Him in the quiet twilight and as the night settles on… Continue reading Living Coals
